Meeting Minutes - June 19, 2012

Ruth Mitchell called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone.

Archie Glass said the blessing.

Dinner was served.

Roll Call
There were 58 in attendance representing five credit unions.

Minutes from the last meeting
Ben Gravely made a motion to dispense with the reading of the minutes.  Kevin Laine seconded the motion.  A vote was taken.  The motion carried.

Treasurer's Report
Archie Glass made a motion to dispense with the reading of the Treasurer's Report.  Greg Hill seconded the motion. A vote was taken.  The motion carried.

Old Business
There was no old business to discuss.

New Business
There was no new business.

Community Involvement Report
Dan Veasey encouraged credit unions to participate in the upcoming Build A Better World Disc Golf Tournament.  Sponsorship and participation are welcome.

Kevin Laine took a moment to thank everyone who had a part in making their Make-a-Wish Golf Tournament another huge success.  The event raised more than $19,000 for the charity which helps terminally ill children.

Legislative Report
Andrew Reynolds took a few moments to call the group to action regarding the pending Member Business Lending legislation.  Credit unions have centerstage in Washington and all eyes are watching to see if we will win or lose.  Chapter members and their members are encouraged to login to which will guide them quickly and easily through the process of writing to our Virginia Senators.

League Report
Nathan Bowden did his very best Carolyn Ashwell impersonation brining greetings form the league.  The video will be uploaded to the chapter website.

Nathan was also our featured speaker.  His role with the league is General Counsel as well as Director of Compliance & Regulatory Affairs.  Take a moment to view the video on the chapter website.  Despite the highly specialized topic, his presentation is applicable to all areas of the credit union no matter what your position or skill level.

Prizes and Closing Remarks
Fran Hines of MDCU won the 50/50 drawing.  She won $39.
Brea Farmer of URW won the first door prize, a lovely gift basket.
Laprinthica Keane won a door prize provided by Member Select Mortgage.  It was a $25 Lone Star Steakhouse gift card.

Kevin Laine made a motion to adjourn.  Ben Gravely seconded the motion.  A vote was taken. The motion carried.  The meeting was adjourned.
