Annual Meeting Minutes - February 21, 2013

Archie Glass, Vice President, welcomed everyone and called the meeting to order

Angela Fowler (URW) shared a stirring rendition of our National Anthem

Nominating Committee Report
Kevin Laine shared the nominations for chapter officers.  Those officers are:

  • President: Archie Glass
  • Vice President: Ben Gravely
  • Treasurer: Sherry Smith
  • Secretary: Dan Veasey

Installation of Officers
PerVirginia Credit Union League rules the officers were accepted by the chapter.  Cliff DeMars, league director, installed the officers. 

Audit Committee Report
L.C. Moore shared the report from the Audit Committee.  All chapter records were found to be in order and balances reconciled accurately.  A motion was made to accept the report.  It was seconded.  A vote was taken.  The motion carried

Greeting from the host credit union
Vanessa Scearce, Goodyear-Danville Family Credit Union shared the latest news from their organization.  It was founded in 1979 to serve the salary employees of the local Goodyear plant.  Nine years ago they expanded their membership to serve all Goodyear employees.  They have saturated their current field of membership.  On January 16th a community charter was approved for them to serve Danville, Pittsylvania County and Caswell County in North Carolina.  Then on January 26th their membership voted to approve a merger with Beacon Credit Union.  This merger will open their membership up to a much wider array of services.  They look forward to continuing to be involved with the chapter as an associate member.

Newcomers & Guests
There were no first time visitors of guests.  Rick Pillow introduced our guest speakers. Namely himself, Nicole Widell and Dorshey Coleman.

Roll Call
There were 43 in attendance representing all 6 credit unions of the Piedmont Chapter.

Treasurer's Report and Minutes from last meeting
There was a motion made to dispense with the reading of the Treasurer's Report and the minutes. There was a motion.  It was seconded.  A vote was taken.  The motion carried.

Dinner was served.

Virginia Credit Union League Town Hall
Rick Pillow, Nicole Widell and Dorshey Coleman shared in detail about the many changes and enhancements going on with the league.  A video recap of this will be posted in the coming days.

Prizes and Closing Remarks
Vanessa Scearce, Goodyear-Danville Family CU, won the 50/50 drawing.  She won $23.
David Deel, MDCU, won the door prize provided by out host credit union, Goodyear-Danville Family CU.
The league also held a drawing for a few free webinars.

Archie Glass declared the meeting adjourned.
